All welcome. **Competitors\, see below for details – esp rules at the end about showing times and requirements** \nWELCOME TO THE INAUGURAL HEAMOOR FLOWER AND PRODUCE SHOW.\nYou\, our competitors\, are members of a select band. An obsession with the uniformity of tomatoes sets you apart from the common person. A commitment to the platonic ideal of a perfect scone\, marks you out. A consuming preoccupation with the friability of compost\, or the correct composition of a photograph\, tells its own story. We the committee\, salute you! You are the people who will make the show what we hope it will be; a cornucopia of beautiful strangeness that will become an annual focal point for Heamoor and surrounding villages and homesteads\, in the coming years. There are no age restrictions on entry to any category\, but there will be specific age-restricted groups\, with prizes for the winners! Category entries will cost a small stipend – a registration fee for the competitor and a class entry fee. At the end of the show there will be a voluntary auction of produce. Raised funds will go to the St. Thomas’s Church fund. Entries will be accepted between 9 and 11am on the morning of the show to allow judging to take place. The show will open at 2pm to all free of charge. Refreshments will be available to purchase.\nWithin the schedule you will find the Longest Carrot\, the marvellous Cake Containing Vegetable and the matchless Traditional Cornish Pasty – all are here and many more. As George Bernard Shaw counsels: ‘A life spent in making mistakes is not only more honourable\, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing’. We encourage you to begin planning your mistakes now and enter the Heamoor Show. We expect as the Duke of Wellington said there will be categories where the victor has a ‘close run thing’ but participation is the thing. Landscape photograph\nA prize will be given to the competitor gaining most points in the Photography category \nGENERAL HINTS FOR SUCCESS\nRead the schedule carefully: if in doubt contact the show secretary for clarification (ianewilletts@btinternet.com).\nSet-up early to allow the judges time to judge (and eat cake slices) – late entries will not be accepted.\nUse plain white plates to exhibit your entries.\nA black base cloth may be used to exhibit vegetables.\nDefinitions of fruit and vegetables are according to RHS guidelines.\nJams and preserves should be sealed with a twist top lid or waxed disc and clear film top.\nEntries must be labelled with plain white labels showing contents and date made. \nFor hints and tips refer to the RHS Horticultural Show Handbook! \nRULES\n1. Entries to be staged at St. Thomas’s Church\, Heamoor between 9 and 11am on the morning of the show; entry fees to be paid on the day please.
