DESCRIPTION: St Thomas’ Church\, Heamoor TR18 3JD – Sat 7th Oct – 10am -12 noon\n This is our first such event. It came about from doing the Eco church survey\, part of ‘Creation Care’ which is a Diocese wide initiative to ‘ Cherish Creation\, Cut Carbon & Speak up’ . It asked about clothes swaps and I thought it would be a good idea to simply give the clothes away. Given the difficult circumstances that some people are experiencing\, I thought that a free clothes event might be helpful. If anyone should want to make a financial donation\, we will collect for our chosen charity\, ‘Cool earth’ which is a charity that backs people to protect rainforests and fight climate change. DESCRIPTION:At the recent Creation Care service in Truro\, Bishop Hugh spoke about the crucial importance of the Church’s focus on climate justice. \n“Climate change isn’t a problem for the future\,” he said. “Climate change is killing people today\, and the people who are suffering are the poorest and most vulnerable.” Bishop Hugh went on to address criticisms that such debates shouldn’t be the province of the Church. \nHe said: “Sometimes the church\, and those who speak publicly on its behalf\, are accused of ‘being too political’ and told to stop and stick to the spiritual stuff. But I challenge anyone to read the Bible\, with any level of engagement at all\, and not to draw the conclusion that God is particularly concerned with those who are poorest and most vulnerable.” \nJoin us for a follow up event to the London/Truro events by Lloyds Bank\, Penzance for prayers\, readings and songs.  All welcome. \n
