Building and other Projects
In Madron church we are saving now for a toilet (probably to be located below the bell tower) adsn for extensive repairs to the exterior of the East window. Fabric projects have been on hold this year as we tackle our £24,000 accumulated debt to the Common Fund. We have paid around £3000 of this in 2010 so donations are always welcome.. At Gulval there are a number of projects teed up. Firstly, a new porch with see-through doors may help increase the light into church and keep draughts at bay. Secondly The lights are to be replaced with long-life low energy bulbs; this gives us the opportunity to review our present piecemeal adn patchy (though overall fairly satisfactory) lighting. Third, we will look to install pew heaters to help people keep warmer in church. Fourth, our scruffy toilet block (mundic ?) may soon be replaced by anew unisex loo much closer to the church door. The old block may be demolished, allowing room them for one or two more burials (the space is getting filled) At St Thomas' we are now looking at replacing our antiquated heating system. High electric elements are to be replaced with gas fuelled radiators - we're looking at around £10,000 and are fundraising towards this. We have got rid of a tremendous amount of clutter adn the garden area behind has been completely tidied. We have a new tuned piano and the south door is now in regular use (giving us a proper fire exit). The old double glazed windows in the kitchen have just been replaced and teh view on the garden is brilliant |
